Cape Cod Getaway
Cape Cod, MA
This residence was designed to be the perfect getaway. Working closely with the architect, builder, and interior design firm, we designed and installed a home technology system that included lighting control, motorized shading, audio/video, networking, and access control.
The home features many architectural details, including extensive millwork, arched and circular windows, and vaulted ceilings. The interior design is characterized by reclaimed oak flooring paired with white walls and rich blue and green accents. Our goal was for the technology to be as subtle as possible, never distracting from the beauty of the architecture and interior design.
Matte white keypads allow for simple control of lights and shades without visual distraction. Motorized roller shades with solar fabric filter daylight and provide privacy in key living spaces, while blackout roller shades with side channels were utilized in bedrooms to completely block the sun when desired. Both styles were housed within custom pockets designed into millwork so that they completely disappear when the shades are open.
Below is an image of one of the bedrooms with the blackout shades lowered halfway. You can see how the shades and side channels block daylight completely.
The audio/video design provides entertainment with minimal visual impact. A distributed audio system, subtle architectural speakers in nearly every room, and landscape speakers out by the pool allow for music or sports commentary to be broadcast throughout if desired. We also coordinated a custom home theater in the basement.
