Rowes Wharf Waterfront
Boston, MA
This condo on the waterfront at Rowes Wharf was completely renovated to change the location of the kitchen and create an open living space looking out on the harbor. Motorized shades are recessed into the frame of each window, providing light control when desired and leaving the view plane clear otherwise.
The architectural lighting on this project was specified in collaboration with our Wolfers Lighting division. It required special consideration regarding installation and proper integration with the HomeWorks lighting & shading control system.
When it comes to recessed linear LED light fixtures, there is very little room for error. The fixtures are made to order in the exact lengths for the project and then must be carefully installed in the ceiling or wall. They also are often low voltage, with wires running from the fixture back to an LED driver in a separate location and then tying into a switch or control system. In this project, linear LED fixtures were recessed into the ceiling in the living room, kitchen, and master bath.
The finished effect is a line of light that washes or grazes a wall, with very little visual presence of the fixture itself. We ensured the linear LED fixtures could be installed as intended and would dim properly on the HomeWorks control system.
